With Jesus as our example…

Once a group of parents brought their children to Jesus to be blessed. The disciples intercepted them; they said Jesus had more important things to do.

But Jesus was “indignant.” He said, “Let the little children come to Me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the realm of heaven belongs.” Then Jesus took the children in His arms and blessed them. (Mark 10:14-15)

At LifeJourney Church, we strive to be as concerned as He was to minister to children. We want to be a parent’s trusted partner in their children’s spiritual growth. We want the time our children spend at church to be among the best moments of their week. Our mission is to welcome and equip our diverse families, and to help children become fully devoted followers of Christ. We offer the following programs for you and your children:

Nursery newborn to three years

We offer care for infants and toddlers during the Sunday morning services. Each parent/guardian is provided a pager so we can contact you, and nursery staff is trained in child care for all ages.

Children’s Workshops: preschool to grade 5

Each Sunday morning during the 9:30 and 11:00 am services the children participate in workshops that teach a story or theme in more than one way over a period of several weeks. Children rotate each week to a different workshop. The Workshop Rotation Model works so well because it is based on the way children love to learn: through games, movement, drama, art, technology, music and more. Children are checked in to their weekly workshop at the start of the service time and are checked out after service by the parent/guardian who brought them.

Blast Off Worship!: preschool to grade 5

The first Sunday of every month is a special day as we take part in Blast Off Worship! On these Sundays the children participate in a full adult worship service with their families before making their way to their own large group worship area. Once they arrive at the spaced out destination, we countdown to lift off and blast into a time of great fun together, with dancing, singing, puppets, skits, games, and all around fun.

The Bridge

That time between elementary school and high school can be a challenging one. You’re not quite a kid but you’re not quite a teen either; you’re bridging both. We’ve created a special place for those who are in that place of “in between”. The Bridge meets weekly during the 11:00 am service, and all tweens in 6th to 9th grades are welcome to participate. This group also participates in quarterly social events outside the church. Information about each event appears regularly in the Weekly News and on the web calendar.

Children’s Choir

This group enables our kids to explore worship by developing their creative gifts. Volunteer leaders of these groups are under the direction of Nathan Tuttle, a children’s music teacher with loads of experience. They meet Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, concurrent with the Family Oasis.

Family Oasis

Our Family Oasis, which is for parents or those thinking about parenting, meets every other Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Parents meet in a small group to learn and share about Christian parenting, and the children participate in the Children’s Choir. This time shared together allows both parents and children to grow together on their spiritual journeys. Come and find your family’s oasis!

Special Events

We offer frequent special events to supplement regular programming. Vacation Bible School and Camp Forust are offered each summer, the Easter Egg Hunt and Birthday Party for Jesus are huge annual events, and we offer regular social events like bowling or miniature golf. There is always something to do to keep the children in our congregation engaged and having fun!
