Nominating Committee Report
At our Annual Congregational Meeting on February 8, we will review a draft 2009 budget proposed by the Board of Directors and elect four Board members.
Two of the four individuals currently in those positions are willing to stand for reelection — Todd Cox and Tony Benner. The other two — Tom Gayler and Adriano Zachariadhes — wish to focus on other service options. The Board expresses deepest gratitude to Tom and Adriano for their outstanding service.
Our Church Bylaws require the formation of a Nominating Committee before each election to ensure that at least one qualified candidate is available for each open position. The Committee consists of Pastor Jeff, one Board member (Jennifer Barnes), and the leaders of the Homeless Ministry (Charlotte Egler) and the Pastoral Care Team (Dan Thomson). Before meeting, the Nominating Committee published a bulletin notice asking interested persons to identify themselves. Several wonderful folks did so!
The Nominating Committee has now met and their nominations are as follows. The Committee nominates Todd Cox and Tony Benner for reelection. Both have served with great distinction. Tony is a CPA who serves as our Assistant Treasurer, investing many hours in tracking finances and donations. As Clerk of the Board, Todd also invests enormous time in drafting minutes of Board meetings and maintaining Church records. Both bring years of wisdom and experience.
For the two open seats, the Committee nominates Sheryl Holko and Kristen Actis-Grande. Sheryl has previously served as leader of our Honeymooner’s Oasis and now serves on our Temple Keepers Team, helping to keep the building clean. She is a small business owner, operating a successful mortgage banking company. At a time when the mortgage on our Church building is set to refinance (April 2009), Sheryl will bring critical expertise to our Board. Sheryl is also the mother of a small child, and will bring that perspective as well.
Kristen Actis-Grande is a Discipleship Teacher for our brand new course on personal finance. She serves as a financial manager for Ingersoll Rand and is currently working on her MBA. At age 32, Kristen is younger than most of our current Board members and will add diversity in that regard.
Under our Bylaws, once the Committee reports its nominations, any individuals who wish are allowed to self-nominate. If you wish to nominate yourself to run for one of these Board positions, please fill out the form at the information kiosk. Forms are due no later than Sunday January 4.
