Accompanist Search Launched
Saturday, September 20th, 2008Historically, Jesus MCC has had a part-time Accompanist (organ/piano) to supplement and support the work of our Worship Arts Minister. Jason Saylor filled that position until his full-time job transferred him to Chicago in June. Now that our new Worship Arts Minister is in place, we’re ready to search for a new Accompanist. Although our new Worship Arts Minister plays the piano superbly, he does not play organ, nor can he accompany the choir while simultaneously conducting them. We anticipate that an Accompanist will also bring skills that allow us to further broaden the styles of music we incorporate into worship.
Initially, the accompanist will work 10 to 12 hours per week. We are looking for someone who: (a) has excellent accompanist skills on both organ and piano; and (b) is able to sight-read classical and contemporary composers. It is also important that this person be on a meaningful Christian journey and understand the responsibilities of a spiritual leader and role model.
If you or someone you know might be interested, please read and respond to the full Position Posting.
The deadline for resumes is October 15.

Here are three ways you can make the earth a little cleaner and help some good causes here at church:
Mark Brown has accepted our offer to serve as our new Worship Arts Minister! Mark currently serves as Music Minister for the mother church of our denomination, MCC Los Angeles. Before coming into MCC, Mark gained invaluable experience on the worship staff of two huge churches in the northwest United States.
In late August, Vivian Wyatt will begin a nine month internship here at Jesus MCC. Vivian is a seminary student at Earlham School of Religion in Richmond. She is one of a handful of Cooper Scholars, meaning she has been given a full merit scholarship by Earlham. She will be Jesus MCC’s first staff intern!
For the past eight years, Dave Calvert has faithfully served as our Church’s ASL Interpreter. Dave has interpreted the 11:00 am worship service and also led our ASL Choir. Dave works as a full-time ASL interpreter in the Perry Township School System, has served as President of the State interpreters association, and has also recently launched his own private interpreting business that is growing rapidly. Given these demands, and after much prayer and thought, Dave has decided to resign as our ASL interpreter, so as to have more time to devote to both his professional and personal life. May 18 will be his last Sunday as our Interpreter.

Over the summer, our Church has been searching for a new Minister of Congregational Care. We have now completed a methodical, detailed search process — and are ready to make an exciting announcement.
Today marks the ten-year service anniversary for our Minister of Worship, Julie Benson. As we look back over those ten years of faithful service, we give thanks!
