Reclaiming Jesus for Ordinary People! • August 21, 2011

That’s what our Church has been about from the beginning. This Sunday, as we celebrate our 20th Anniversary, we will talk about who Jesus really was, and why it’s so important that a Church like ours boldly proclaims Jesus’ message of love and healing in a world filled with judgment and hate.

If you’re jaded about institutionalized Christianity, give yourself a chance to fall in love with Jesus all over again.

Sometimes we get stuck thinking the same way and doing the same thing over and over again — with the same negative results. We’ll look at a Bible story that suggests a different approach and a behavioral model for implementing that wisdom. The sermon was delivered by our special Black Pride guest speaker, Rev. Sam Offer from Baltimore, MD.

Our Gospel Choir helps us celebrate Black History Month by re-enacting — in testimony and song — what they experienced growing up in African American churches.

As they weave their story, they invite each of us to reflect on our own past — and what we can learn from both the beautiful and difficult experiences.
