You’ve heard people say, “You only get to live once, so make the most of it!” Are you?

Great Expectations

This Sunday we’ll examine the mindset that characterized early Christians and how that made them so powerful, then consider how we might benefit from embracing that same mindset.

This Is Your Time!

Do you ever find yourself falling into the trap of not living to your full potential, and allowing the time to just slip away? It’s easy to say, “I’ll be happy if or when . . . ,” as if there is always something in life that is missing.

How can we get better at living in the moment?

Why Should I Smile?

Life is hard. So why even bother? Why shouldn’t we grow cynical and depressed? The early Christians had a powerful answer to that question. With this sermon we launch a new series on the book of First Peter.

Religious or Spiritual?

Many people are religious; few are spiritual. Which are you?

As followers of Christ, we’re called to “live in the Spirit,” which is the opposite of being religious. Do you know what makes the difference?

In The Middle

Funny how we always get excited about the beginning and ending of something, but rarely think about what happens in between. We celebrate birth, and solemnly mark death. We celebrate the first day of school and mark our last with a graduation ceremony.

Yet everything that matters, all the “stuff of life,” happens in between — in the middle.

Keep Hope Alive

That’s what they say: “Keep hope alive!”

But how? When the storms of life sweep in, and all that is positive seems swept away, how can we ‘keep hope alive’? This sermon looks to a classic Bible story that offers some answers.

Room To Grow, Room To Be

It sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by people who love, encourage, and advise us, but don’t judge, manipulate, or try to control. Yet we ourselves often struggle to offer that gift to those around us.

How Evil Works

Some churches are obsessed with evil; it’s all they talk about. Others seem to avoid it altogether, as if evil doesn’t exist. Why can’t we have a conversation that avoids both extremes?

So we’ll take a shot at that. Our goal will be to understand better how evil works in our world, in our families, and inside each of us.

Finding Our Way In Life

We all have blind spots. The problem is . . . when we have a blind spot we usually don’t know it.

So we move through life, making decisions, sometimes very bad decisions, and can’t figure out why things keep going so badly. We’ll study an ancient Bible story that teaches us how to best compensate for the blind spots in our lives.

Living Large

Jesus promises us “abundant life.” He makes this promise to both rich and poor, strong and feeble.

But how is that possible? How is it possible to live “abundantly” despite our circumstances?

God’s Eyes

How do you see yourself spiritually? Some of us may think pretty highly of ourselves. But most of us struggle. “I have so little to offer God,” we think. “I’m completely insignificant in the grand scheme of things.” This sermon examines how to have healthy spiritual self-esteem. Listen for a word of encouragement!

Faith of Our Mothers

There’s an old hymn called Faith Of Our Fathers. The words include, “Faith of our fathers, living still, in spite of dungeon, fire, and sword.” Pretty cool.

But for many of us, some of the greatest faith we’ve ever seen has come from our mothers and grandmothers. This Sunday, Mother’s Day, we ask: What can we learn about faith from great women of God?
