Today’s scripture: Genesis 17:1-27 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?
My thoughts (James Hendrix):
The old woman sat quietly in the wheelchair as she looked out the window of her hospital room. When she spoke, I could barely hear her, but her words inspired me. “God has blessed me in so many ways during my ninety years, and God has always been faithful in promises to me,” she said. Long after I left her that day, her words about God’s faithfulness continued to resound in my heart.
Just as God promised life and land to Abraham and his descendants, God promises to give all God’s children a life filled with joy when we follow God and put God first in our lives. Even when circumstances in our lives seem unbearable or out of control, we can trust God’s promise to keep us and give us perfect peace. That’s for you and me and hopefully our descendants.
Prayer for the day: Lord, thank you for your blessings. Amen.
