Today’s scripture: Psalm 25:1-10 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?
My thoughts (Sue Robinson):
One of the things a love most about David, the writer of this Psalm, is his willingness to learn. He mentions learning 6 times just in this passage. He was the king. He could have had a haughty, know-it-all attitude, but he was humble enough to seek God’s teaching for his entire life.
I had a funny experience at a garage sale once. The seller had a nice Bible laying on the table with other books for sale. I asked her how much and she quoted me a price that was within my budget, so I purchased it. As I was paying, we started talking. Out of curiosity, I asked her why she was getting rid of her Bible. Her response…”I’ve already read it”! Not your lifelong learner!
David says, “Show me Your ways, oh Lord. Teach me Your paths.” It is amazing how God shows us new things with every reading of Scripture. It might be something completely new, or maybe a different spin on an old passage, but if we are open to being taught, God is there to teach us.
Thought for the day: May we all be open to learning new things and new attitudes.
We encourage you to include a time of prayer with this reading. If you need a place to get started, consider the suggestions on the How to Pray page.
