Today’s scripture: Psalm 85:1-4 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?
My thoughts (E’sha Cooper):
For the director of music. A psalm of the Sons of Korah.
1 Lord, you showed favor to your land.
You blessed the people of Jacob with great success again.
2 You forgave the evil things your people did.
You took away all of their sins. Selah
3 You stopped being angry with them.
You turned your burning anger away from them.
4 God our Savior, make us new again.
Stop being unhappy with us.
Dear Jesus,
Next Wednesday I will be celebrating Your Manifestation Day and before I get into the spirit of celebration, I want to say thank You.
Thank You that while the other children were playing, You were praying for God’s will to be done in Your life.
Thank You that while the other children were playing games, You were meditating on how You would change the game forever for humanity.
Thank You that while the teenage boys and girls were stealing kisses, You were anticipating how the embrace of lost men and women everywhere would be.
Thank You that while other young men were working their father’s lands, You were working on God’s plan.
Thank You that while other men were taking brides, You were sanctifying Yours with Your holiness.
Thank You that while others were being rewarded for their good work, You were being condemned for Yours.
Thank You that when the crowd was shouting ,”Crucify Him!” You were whispering,” Let them live.”
Jesus, You have done more for me than my limited vocabulary could ever render sufficient. From the bottom of my heart I say, ”Thank You.”
Prayer for the day: Jesus, You have done so much for me. Erasing my sins is a major one,. May I never neglect to say the simple two words of ,”Thank You.”
We encourage you to include a time of prayer with this reading. If you need a place to get started, consider the suggestions on the How to Pray page.
