Today’s scripture: Hebrews 12:14-29 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?
My thoughts (David Zier):
I saw this video (below) on YouTube a while ago and remembered it when I read today’s scripture passage. Seeking peace in our world, especially today with everything that is going on, is not always so easy. We may try to seek peace in an outward way, but seeking peace really starts within; within each of us. When I embrace God’s grace, I want more of God’s peace in my life. As I continue to allow God to work in me and help me to cultivate more peace within, it makes me want to seek peace beyond me. It also makes me see myself more clearly; the ways that I may not be seeking peace, my own critical spirit, as well as my own faults. Accepting myself so I can grow and change is important to me. For me, this is part of asking for forgiveness.
I want to learn and seek to see others as God sees them. When I do that, I find that I seek more peace, and that ‘critical spirit’ diminishes just a little bit more. Watch the five minute video.
Thought for the day: Am I seeking peace, or would I rather hold on to a critical spirit?
