Today’s scripture: Psalm 72 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?
My thoughts (David Zier):
As I read this psalm, I hear the message about God’s justice prevailing. However, it does not prevail without seeking and praying for guidance so that justice will happen. It reminds me about myself. When I pray, I don’t sit back. When I pray for guidance, for me it means active involvement and working with God. Not just speaking the prayer.
Verses 12-14 of today’s scripture speak volumes to me: “. . . deliver the needy when they call, the poor and those who have no helper. . . . have pity on the weak and the needy, and save the lives of the needy. . . . From oppression and violence . . . redeem their life; precious is their blood. . . .”

Thought for the Day (A Prayer of St. Francis):
Most High and glorious God, bring light to the darkness of my heart;
Give me right faith, certain hope,
And perfect charity.
Lord, give me insight and wisdom
So I might always discern
Your holy and true will.
