Today’s scripture: Proverbs 3:5-8 & 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?
My thoughts (Steve Adams):
Trust in God with all your heart! Acknowledge God in every path, every experience!
Isn’t this the core of our spiritual quest — the key to meeting the challenges of life and to making our journeys rich?
When my mother suddenly died at age 49, the need to fully acknowledge God, and all that God is, gave me the strength to get through that brutally cold, snowy winter that made my soul, as well as my body, shiver.
But what about the challenges you and I face every day? Is it any different? Not really. We still need God just as much. We need the spiritual awareness that only God can give in order to navigate the continual daily challenges of “ordinary” life. And if it’s not ourselves who face urgent crisis today, it’s the people of Nepal, or Yemen, or Syria — or next door.
The words of 2 Corinthians 3:18 show how we will develop and grow as we behold God. We are changed into the image of God, from glory to glory, as we BEHOLD our wondrous God! The spirit in us reflects God’s glory and we are transformed, even if only a bit at a time. So, what do we want: to become more like God, or more like “the world” (what’s not under the inspired, determined influence of God)? It’s our choice!
Thought for the day: “With life as short as a half-taken breath, why plant anything but love?” ~ Rumi, 13th Century Sufi poet. Our earthly life is fleeting. Let us acknowledge and behold God every second we can!
