Today’s scripture: Genesis 6:9-22 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?
My thoughts (James Hendrix):
A few months ago, a friend of mine celebrated his ninetieth birthday. I asked him if there were any significant events during his long life that stood out to him. He told me about growing up poor during the Great Depression, how he felt when he first met the woman who would later become his wife, and the joy he experienced when his children were born. “Those were important times,” he said. But he explained that nothing compared to the day, many years ago, when he decided to invite Christ into his life. “I have experienced many ups and downs since then,” he recalled, “but God has always been faithful to me.”
The Bible chronicles numerous examples of God’s faithfulness. In today’s Scripture, we read about Noah’s obedience to God. In return, God kept a great promise and proved God’s steadfastness to Noah and his family. No matter what uncertainties we face, if we entrust our lives to God we can be certain that God will lead us. The Lord is the giver of life, and we will not lack for anything.
