Getting bad news, especially a medical diagnosis, is never pain free, whether physically, emotionally, or both. When I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, especially the 5 cm diameter size on my brain stem, causing my breathing and heart rate issues, I initially thought life was over, at least what I knew of it. That initial reaction does not have to remain as the only reaction.
