Today’s scripture:
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.Psalm 46:10-11
As you read, consider: What might God be saying to me in this passage? Summarize your thoughts in a sentence or two.
This week, our theme has been “Think Different.” We’ve tried to share some different ways we’ve learned to understand and relate to God.
Today, as we think different, we’ll also do different.
Christian Century magazine quotes Jonathan Sacks, a rabbi in Great Britain, who tells a story about Mother Teresa.
When asked by an interviewer what she says to God when she prays, she replied: “I don’t say anything. I just listen.” When the interviewer asked what she hears God saying, Mother Teresa answered: “He doesn’t say anything. He just listens. And if you can’t understand that, I can’t explain it to you.”
Can you imagine praying like that? Does it make you uncomfortable? Give it a try today.
Today, let’s join together in prayer, and listen.
We encourage you to include a time of prayer with this reading. If you need a place to start, consider the guidelines on the How to Pray page.
