Today’s scripture: Matthew 10:5-10 (ESV-text and audio) (KJV) (The Message) What might God be saying to me?
My thoughts (Tammy Mills):
I find it interesting that Jesus sends the disciples out to share the good news, but puts a very specific condition on it: they are to go only to the Jews, not the Samaritans or Gentiles.
I find this pretty curious. Why does Jesus first send them only to people like them? Didn’t the ministry and life of Jesus clearly demonstrate that the gospel is for everyone?
For me, this passage points out I need to remember that the first place I am called to share the gospel is my home. Jesus says to me today, “Tammy, I am sending you to your family and friends. Share the good news with them. Live before them a life that becomes the gospel. Be an agent of hope and healing in your family. Later we will worry about the world.”
Thought for the day: Is my family a priority? Do they see Jesus in me? Am I doing things with my family and friends that bring hope and healing?
