Today’s scripture: Acts 4:32-37 (NRSV) (The Message)
As you read, consider: What might God be saying to me? Summarize your thoughts in a sentence or two.
My thoughts (Tammy Mills):
I often daydream of living back in the ’60s. Oh, the music… the polyester clothes… the protests… My soul imagines living in a “hippie” commune where everyone shared everything.
I have always loved the idea of everyone sharing resources. It makes so much practical sense. Why does everyone on my block need a lawnmower? Couldn’t we all share one? And why do we all need a washer and dryer? Couldn’t we share those? I just keep wondering how far our resources could go if we shared our possessions.
While this is a nice dream, I know my reality is that I live in a more-is-better culture and I am right out there with the best of them, acquiring more of everything! Why is my dream so far from my reality? Today’s scripture really challenges me to think and evaluate how I use my resources.
Thought for the day: God, am I making the best use of the resources you have given me?
