Solitude is the Place of Conversion – Henri Nouwen Society

Luke 6:12
Now during those days he went out to the mountain to pray; and he spent the night in prayer to God.

And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,

If Jesus needed this, what does it say about us? We need it even more! Yet we treat prayer like an optional side show that we can brush off. And prayer is much more than lifting up a verbal or worded prayer. There is the time of silence and being alone with God, all vulnerable and all out there.

Let God reveal who we are to ourselves. How else will we truly learn how we are wired, and those things we need to work on for ourselves? We will probably hear more clearly those things that come between or get in the way between us and God. We talk about conversion as part of our Discipleship journey. Conversion does not happen over night. And it especially does not happen if we don't participate.
