Who Wants to Admit to THAT Kind of Envy? – Encouragement for Today – July 29, 2019

In Exodus 20:17, God commands people, “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

Some may be thinking… No! women, or people, are not property! Let's just call it coveting your neighbor's relationship so this does not get in the way of today's devotional.

It is easy to want what others have, especially if It appears that they have it all, life is good, and all these things make them happy! House, car, relationship, kids, job, etc. But let's not get too carried away. That is just the peripheral things we see. We really don't know what their life is like.

It seems harmless to be happy for someone and what they have. But can that grow to envy? Can it cause resentment? Can it cause us to forget that we have much to be grateful for as well?
