The Good Life

For several weeks we’ve been looking at Building Blocks for Spiritual Growth.

So far we’ve looked at Worship, Connection, Quiet Time, Service, and Generosity — powerful blocks we can use to build our souls.

This sermon looks at the last two — “?” and “D” — and puts all the pieces together into a coherent plan.

Imitation of Christ

This sermon continues our series on Building Blocks for Spiritual Growth.

So far we’ve looked at Worship, Connection, and Quiet Time — three powerful blocks we can use to build our souls.

But these are all “inflow.” What’s the point of making my soul more fit, if I’m not using that growth for some good?

This week, we look at the S and G blocks — Service and Generosity — and at the example of Jesus, who modeled these traits in extraordinary ways for us.

Watch or listen as we consider ways to “practice the presence of Christ.”

The Wild Stampede

This sermon continues our series on Building Blocks for Spiritual Growth.

So far we’ve looked at Worship and Connection — two powerful components we can use to build our souls.

This week we’ll examine quiet time — another tool that can help us invite the presence of Christ into our life. We all know how frantic and hectic life can be. Couldn’t we all use more of Jesus’ peace and presence?

Out of Hiding

This sermon continues our series on Building Blocks for Spiritual Growth with “C” for Connection.

Last week we looked at Worship. A powerful worship service can be a wonderful way to enter into the presence of God. But sometimes, it’s just not enough.

Have you ever felt isolated at church, like you’re on the fringes and just can’t figure out how to break in? There’s a New Testament word that describes what we need — koinonia. This sermon explores what it is and how to find it.

Fit For Life

Bit by bit, piece by piece, block by block, each day we are building our lives. So how’s your construction going?

The Bible teaches that life flows from the inside out. Happiness, contentment, peace, joy — they all flow from within. None of us can live well unless we are taking good care of our souls. Are you?

This sermon begins a new series focused on Soul Care. We’ll explore a variety of spiritual practices which are basic “building blocks” for constructing a strong soul.

Don’t Make Me Come Down There!

We’ve spent a couple weeks looking at stories surrounding the birth of Christ — it is the season, after all.

This week, something related but maybe not the first thing that comes to mind at Christmastime: What did it really mean for God to become human?

The scriptures say that Jesus “emptied himself” of divine privilege and power while he was in the flesh on earth. That has enormous ramifications for how we see God and how we are able to relate to God. Watch or listen for a message of encouragement and hope.

Christmas Surprise

This sermon looks at a portion of the traditional Christmas story — the shepherds and angels.

Miracle on My Street

This sermon looks at a portion of the traditional Christmas story — the shepherds and angels.

Yawn! That old thing again? Not quite.

Have you ever wondered why these particular shepherds were told the incredible news and were allowed to see the Messiah?

There are a couple of clues in the text we can apply to our own circumstances, that may hold the key to us receiving our own revelation.

Our sermon series on Mastering Our Money concludes with a look at two more key spiritual principles for growing our prosperity. These are principles put forth by Suze Orman, which just happen to line up precisely with wisdom from Scripture.

These principles will surprise you! At first glance, they may seem like they have little to do with financial management.

This Is All Your Fault!

Have you ever been told — or felt like it was implied — that Christians can’t feel sad or depressed or angry?

Would it surprise you to know that over a third of the Psalms, most of Job, plus an entire book — Lamentations — are all prayers that express anguish to God?

The writers of those texts were being honest. And they dared to bring their pain, frustration — their lament — directly to God.

This sermon looks at ways to reclaim the power of the prayer of lament. Listen or watch for a lesson that’s practical and life-giving.
