Today’s scripture: Hebrews 10:26-31 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?
My thoughts (David Zier):
“It’s All About Me” – Author unknown
Please take a long look at me, am I not as perfect as can be?
It seems as the universe evolves, around me everything revolves.
That’s the way it will always be, and that’s perfectly okay with me.
It’s all about what I want to do, as my opinion has more value.
I always stand out in a crowd, a fact of which I’m quite proud,
And more gifted than others, even my sisters and brothers.
Never a dull moment in my mind, I can entertain myself just fine
With extraordinary charm and wit, more than anyone . . . I freely admit.
With myself I easily converse, since I’m never one to be adverse.
Everybody thinks I’m a cool cat, but not like that one in the hat.
It’s true, I’m the life of the party, more fun than others will ever be.
Surely you know I am the best and I stand out from all the rest.
Do you think I just might be God’s perfect gift to humanity?
Let’s come together and agree, that it is simply all about me!
Do I exhibit any of the attitude of this poem? Does this help me grow toward God, or away from God? Is this me in any way?
Prayer for the Day: God, help me to see where I exhibit this kind of attitude in my life. Help me to grow toward you, not away.
We encourage you to include a time of prayer with this reading. If you need a place to get started, consider the suggestions on the How to Pray page.
