Sometimes, what we say or how we say it can impact others positively or negatively. It can impact ourselves as well.
Sure, we misinterpret each other often, and we always like to think we really know what someone else is thinking or saying. We should chose our words wisely, and we should be slow to speak. It is even okay to say less or even be silent. Have you ever tried that?
There is much wisdom in proverbs. So much is said about what comes out of our mouth. I will highlight a few here…
If you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth . . . Go and humble yourself; press your plea with your neighbor! (Proverbs 6:2 – 3).
Good people think before they answer (Proverbs 15:28).
Intelligent people think before they speak; what they say is then more persuasive (Proverbs 16:23).
The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous will be delivered (Proverbs 11:9).
Let's see what Glenn MacDonald, the Director of Mission Integration for the Ascension Ministry Service Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, has to say in today's selected devotional. Perhaps there is something here for your Spiritual Action Plan for 2019.
