Psalm 133:1 How good and pleasant it is when God's people dwell together in unity.
In our western culture, we tend to think individually, or with people who are just like me or think like me. We forget in all our divisiveness that it is about all of us. Isn't that why the world goes through chaos and mess; we can't dwell together in unity?
Regardless of what people want to think or how they want to conduct themselves, we have to work together and communicate and listen if we are going to get there.
Perhaps we will have more compassion for others who come to their positions. Whether because of heart felt conditions, wanting others lives to improve, or because people have been subject to a culture and education that have left them with certain positions that others just shake their heads at, we forget how much we are influenced by our environment, our upbringing, and what we are told, especially in our informative years.
It is not always easy to unlearn ingrained information and attitudes. Letting go is hard work. This goes for all of us.
So what is my part?
Perhaps we need to pray about that.
