One of the building blocks we talk about in Discipeship 101 is the 'D' block – Discipleship.

The first verse we discuss in the class is John 8:12
"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

There is so much emphasis on Jesus birth and death, and these are marked by holidays we celebrate. Sometimes, I think we can forget that 'all' of Jesus life is important, including the three years of his teaching. Afterall, Jesus says "follow me" over and over again. It is his teaching and life that we follow.

So, why do we emphasize the beginning and end and sacrifice the middle? Could it be more challenging? Are we doing the following piece well? What would you add to your your Rule of Life that incorporates the "following Jesus" part? Read today's devotional by Richard Rohr at the link below.
