Oh. No. She. Didn’t!

Ecclesiastes 7:21-22, “Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you — for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others.”

1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

Do you get offended by what others say? Sometimes it happens, even when the intent was not to offend. But then there are times where the intent was malicious.

How about us? Do our words offend others? Whether intentionally or not, I would bet that we offend others and not realize it. But we can also offend others with some malicious intent.

We can also get so tempted to parse other people’s words, and say to ourselves or others, “This is what they really meant!” And of course, others do that to us as well. We see this on news programs everyday. Others telling us what a political really meant. Usually, they are clueless but speak it anyway without confirming with the source. The ratings game, and we watch.

Typically what we think someone else said is not always what they thought they were saying. We get all caught up in it. “Oh no he didn’t!” “Oh yes she did!” Where is the love?
