Morning Reflection

Matthew 10:38; Matthew 16:24; Mark 8:34; Luke 9:23; Luke 14:27

And whoever does not take their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let them deny himself and take up their cross and follow me.

And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, Jesus said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

And Jesus said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let them deny himself and take up their cross daily and follow me.

Whoever does not bear their own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

It is easy to talk about following Jesus, What Would Jesus Do, and being kind and doing the right thing. There is nothing wrong with that. But how often do we talk about the cost of following Jesus, the changes in myself and the changes I need to make, and what it means about the choices I make in my life? What is the cost?
