Bus Boy or CEO — God Doesn’t Care

Today’s scripture: Galatians 3:28 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?

My thoughts (Cheryl Stonestreet):

I love the dog park. I meet the most interesting people there.

I once met this guy who was a truck driver. One day while he was out on his route in a residential area, he saw a dog mauling a little girl. The dog had completely torn the skin away from the girl’s face and she was unconscious. Because the driver had training as an army medic, he knew how to do what needed to be done, and he also gave the child mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. His deeds were enough to keep her alive until the rest of the medical community could take over.

After many surgeries, the girl lives. The family doesn’t have much money for all the medical expenses. But that same truck driver is also a musician and his band continues to raise money for the family.

We never know when we are going to be called into service. But we must know that no matter who we are, or what ever our station, God sees us for what we are capable of doing — not for our earthly titles.

It is so easy to buy into the idea that we are “only” something or another. I’m only a mother. I’m only a customer service rep. I’m only  back-office staff. But Jesus has cleared the way for each of us to walk equally with each other and we can walk with our chins up knowing that.

Thought for the day: Walk your life journey with Jesus and know that you share the path with kings and slaves.
