Today’s scripture: John 7:37-44 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?

When Donna Hays’ father passed away several years ago, a memorial fund was established to provide water to a community in Sudan. In many communities in Sudan, women and children walk long distances through dangerous terrain daily for water. In the summer of 2010, enough money was raised to install the well, and Angie Thurnall and Steph Branson were able to see this well when they journeyed to Sudan in February 2011.
When we are filled with the spirit of Christ we have a conscience that is more Christ-like. I guess you can call this our Christ conscious. Our Christ conscience is more than just mere belief as something that remains just in our mind. It is like a waterfall. Can you image standing under a water fall that represents the Holy Spirit, where we just allow ourselves to get soaked with God’s spirit and God’s love that feeds our minds and souls, and creates in us that Christ conscience. As we become saturated, the Spirit pours out of us. It is this pouring out of us that brings about the reality of such projects as this well in Sudan. It can literally bring forth rivers of living water. Water is the source of life after all.
What kind of rivers are you springing forth in your life? Are you allowing yourself to get drenched in the Holy Spirit? Are you allowing Christ to come into your heart, and create a new well of water to be used to drench others as an outpouring of God’s love and grace at work in your life? Next time you see a waterfall, a sprinkler, a fountain, or any kind of water source or body of water, think about the life that water provides. And when you do this, allow your soul to be drenched in God’s love and grace that will pour out of you in amazing ways and bless someone else.
Prayer for the day: God, please drench me in your Spirit, so that I can live in your love and grace, and pass that on to someone else, in an amazing way. Amen.
