Laying Bricks – Crosswalk the Devotional – January 4

On this Good Friday, it is good to look at the servant that Jesus was in his time. Jesus did not come to be served, but to do for others; show us who God is and God’s character and values. And Jesus reaches out to us and wants us to serve. So what better way is there to honor Jesus as this time than to serve others?

As we strip away the altars at Good Friday services this evening, and we are saddened by what happens to Jesus at this time in history, we should also show our gratitude. Not just for the life he sacrificed on the cross, but the life he sacrificed serving humanity, helping us to connect with God and building the foundation for which our Christian faith is based.

It is okay to show tears. But let some of those tears be tears of gratitude as well. We can add to the foundation Jesus built by laying some bricks ourselves, so others can participate in the life Jesus wants us all to live.
