Imagine

When we face problems . . . , or need to make strategic decisions . . . , we often feel at a loss – like we’re shooting in the dark. That’s not how the earliest Christians did things. Based on what Jesus taught, they believed they had access to a secret source of wisdom that would stretch their imagination and give them stunning insights. This Sunday we’ll identify that source of wisdom and how to access it, as we continue our sermons series called “Power Up! (on I Corinthians).”

Feel The Power

This Sunday we’ll launch into a new sermon series, based on the book of I Corinthians, called “Power Up!” We’ll begin by trying to understand why the earliest Christians found so much power in the cross. Often sermons on the cross tend to be full of jargon. This Sunday we’ll cut through all that jargon in an attempt to discover how the earliest Christians found so much power – power for living – in the cross.

Mystery Diagnosis

Are there times in your life where you don’t quite feel like yourself? Are there empty places inside and you’re just not sure what is happening? This Sunday as we close out our sermon series on “Colorful Characters in the Life of Jesus,” we’ll explore Jesus’ encounter with a blind man and how this can help us with our own blind spots.

All In The Family

Have you ever wondered what politics and culture looked like in Jesus’ day? Actually, politics and culture were just as polarized then as now. Yet somehow Jesus managed to transcend those divides. His first disciples were an amazing conglomeration of previously polarized people. This Sunday, as we continue our sermon series on “Colorful Characters in the Life of Jesus,” we’ll explore how Jesus managed to bring them together, and what practical lessons we can learn from that.

When “No” Is The Answer

We face it all the time. We have a dream or hope, something we want, but the answer keeps coming back “No!” What then? Should a person of faith ever take “no” for an answer? This week we’ll study the story of a woman who encountered Jesus and could have easily accepted defeat. From her example, we’ll learn a very important life lesson.

Mystery Woman

This week we’ll resume our sermon series on “Colorful Characters in the Life of Jesus” by studying an unnamed woman does something so surprising, Jesus himself declared, “Wherever the Gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in remembrance of her.” So what did she do? And why was Jesus so impressed? Together we’ll unravel the mystery – and in the process, learn something very important!

Why? – Part 2

Last Sunday we asked, “If you’re there God, why are things as they are?” This Sunday we’ll continue that dialogue and go even deeper, focusing especially on the question, “Why do good people suffer?”

Why?

For anyone who has ever experienced something that seems to make no sense and wondered why, this Sunday’s sermon is for you.
We’ll study another colorful character in the life of Jesus – Mary, his mother – and see how she handled all the “whys?” that she faced in her incredible life.

God Speaking Through Me?

Has anyone ever said something to you that you were sure came straight from God? Have you ever said something to someone that had a similar impact on them? This Sunday we’ll be studying one of God’s great messengers – the angel Gabriel – for clues about how we can be a channel through which God speaks.

Right Place, Right Time

Have you ever worried that maybe the twists and turns of life have knocked you off course – that maybe you’re failing to live into the fullness of your destiny? We’ll resume our sermon series on “Colorful Characters in the Life of Jesus.” We’ll take a look at someone who probably felt like he was off course, but then learned a very important lesson that is powerfully relevant to us today.

The Gospel According to Joanna

Did you know that one of Jesus’ foremost disciples was named . . . Joanna? Have you ever heard of her? Do you know her story – and what we’re supposed to learn from her?

In this sermon we’ll reconstruct the life of an obscure disciple who has something very important and practical to teach us. Join us – and learn something new!

CSI Jericho

This sermon launches the series “Colorful Characters in the Life of Jesus.” In each one, we study someone who crossed paths with Jesus and ask what we can learn from their example.

We begin with a man named Bartimaeus who experienced a transformational miracle. In CSI fashion, we investigate the story, seeking clues for how we can unleash similar transformational change in our own lives.
