Yearning For God

Sometimes you hear people talk about having a “close personal relationship with God.”  But what does that mean?  And what does it look like?  Is it just superficial happy-talk, or is there really something to it?  This Sunday we’ll explore some very practical ways to build a connection to God that is deeper and more meaningful.

Fences

We hear every day that love is the answer or all you have to do is love. What do we mean when we say that? What does love look like? This Sunday we will explore what it means to love as Jesus did.

What’s Next For Me?

We’re all on a journey.  Where are you on yours?  As we move into another new year, now is a great time to pause and assess.  That’s what we’ll do this Sunday, as Pastor Jeff shares a concept from both science and Scripture that will help each of us assess where we are, and what our next steps might need to be.  Start off the New Year on the right foot!

The Secret . . . Of The Shepherds

Every Bible story is meant to teach us something important about ourselves, life, and God – including the Christmas story.  This week, as we prepare our hearts for Christmas, we’ll explore what God wants us to learn from the experience of the shepherds who were “abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night, when . . .”

What I Really Need For Christmas

How confident are you that God really loves you?  Not the you that “you should be,” but the you that you actually are from day to day, with all your ups and downs.  There is no greater gift than knowing, in the depths of your being, that you are infinitely loved.  This Sunday, as we continue our sermon series on I Corinthians, we’ll talk about why and how God loves you – the imperfect you – so much.  Come to church and receive this greatest gift.

Best Gift Under The Tree!

We’re in the midst of a sermon series called “Power Up! (on I Corinthians).”  Our goal is to try to understand what made the early Christians so powerful.  Each week, we’re looking at a different concept.  This week we come to one of their most  important sources of power for living – the idea that God deliberately and intentionally gives each one of us a supernatural gift that we are meant to use in this world.  Do you know what your supernatural gift is?  Are you using it?

Great Expectations

The season of Advent is upon us; it is a time of anticipation for the birth of Christ. There is energy and excitement in the air. All things seem possible. But the season passes us by and nothing seems to change for us. Why are our expectations so different from our reality? Why doesn’t our hopeful waiting lead to anything new? This Sunday we will talk about the anticipation advent symbolizes and how it can serve to renew our spirits.

Control Feak

How well do you do in relationship?  Not just spousal relationships, but all kinds of relationships . . . with family, coworkers, friends?  This Sunday we’ll look at the single most important principle for successful relationships — and apply it to the sensitive subject of sex – as we continue our “Power Up!” sermon series based on the New Testament book of First Corinthians.

This Body of Mine

As spiritual people, sometimes we get so focused on our souls, we forget about our bodies. We figure, “As long as I’m taking care of my soul, God doesn’t care how I treat my body.” But it doesn’t work that way. Body and soul are deeply interconnected. This week we’ll take a look at passage in I Corinthians that challenges us to see body care as an integral part of our spirituality. We’ll look at some simple practical ways to do better, and feel better, so we can live better.

Abundant Living

It’s one of those phrases you often hear spiritual people use. But what does “abundant living” mean? And how do we get there? That’s what we’ll explore this Sunday, as we continue our “Power Up!” sermon series.

Here Come The Judge!

Judging others is one of our greatest human struggles. We realize it hurts others, and even hurts us. Every drop of energy we invest judging someone else is energy we could have invested in something positive instead. So how can we tame our crazy impulse to judge? That’s the question we’ll tackle this week, as we continue our sermon series called “Power Up! (on I Corinthians).”

Wasted Energy

Nothing saps our life energy faster than getting caught up in the drama of the problems and conflicts of everyday life – especially people problems and conflicts. This week we will continue our “Power Up!” sermon series by looking at God’s practical advice for how to live powerfully even when we’re surrounded by drama and conflict.
