God Is Like Honey

Today’s scripture: Psalm 19 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?

My thoughts (David Zier):

I love Christmas for so many reasons. When I was kid it was the presents. When I was 8, I said to my parents after I ripped open all my presents, “Is that all?” I spent years in my adult life doing lots of shopping, loving to give the perfect gift. But in my later years, it is making the Christmas Dinner for church that has blessed my so richly. Of course, I love the food!

In verses 7 to 11 of today’s reading, I was reminded of great food with the reference to honey and the drippings of honeycomb, which carries my thoughts to Christmas; sweet, wonderful, savory, delicious, mouth watering food. I think you get the idea.

I praise God, like the beginning of this Psalm, for Christmas; it’s meaning, the preparation, the food, the joy and hope it brings, the gathering with church family and friends, and the time to realize how all these things draw me closer to God. It also serves as a reminder of how I should be reaching those in need as Jesus taught us; now and throughout the year.

This Psalm reminds me that the Bible provides wisdom, insight, and guidance that fill my soul with who God is, what is important in life, and how I should live. It is my spiritual journey that included reading the Bible when I was young, and keeping in touch with how God speaks to me through reading the Bible, who God is in the Bible, and everything around me today that has lead me to where I am right now as I write this Be Still; sweet drippings of honeycomb.

Let the words of my mind moving to my fingertips typing on my MAC be acceptable in your sight.

Thought for the day: How is God like honey and drippings of honeycomb for me?
