Glorify God

Today’s scripture: Isaiah 42:10-20 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?

My thoughts (James Hendrix):

Johann Sebastian Bach is considered one of the greatest composers of all time. Bach wrote hundreds of complex, beautiful pieces for violin, flute, harpsichord, organ, choir, and other instruments. Yet, during his sixty-five years of life, Bach was little known outside of the German towns where he composed and served as a church organist. Although he is now considered a musical genius, many accounts describe Bach as a humble man whose love of music was stronger than his desire for fame. He considered his music a gift that should be used for the purpose of glorifying God and edifying God’s people.

As Christians, our aim in life should be similar to Bach’s. Whether it is through the work we perform at our jobs or the tasks we complete at home, we should honor God. As we surrender our lives to God, the Almighty will show us ways to serve and glorify the Lord.

Thought for the day: Lord, may I praise and glorify you in my life today.
