Destructive Behavior

Today’s scripture: Psalm 52 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?

My thoughts (David Zier):

I see people in the church and outside of church who can tear down the very things that can go well in life. Most of you know what this can mean. The whispering, the gossiping, the tit for tat kind of things all seem senseless because it is not lifting anyone up, it is not praising God, it is destructive, and it is unkind and not loving. So much energy is spent tearing each other down. There is no peace in the turmoil.

Why not be like that grounded green olive tree in the house of God (verse 8)? Live in God’s steadfast love and show gratitude. Love does not steal our peace or energy, love energizes us to encourage and supports others, and love feeds our souls in ways that give us peace.

Thought for the Day (Prayer): Choose love. Choose God. Praise and give thanks.
