Trust God

Note: We ran Isaiah 10:1-4 last Friday unintentionally, so we got a little out of order. We did chapter 9 the last 2 days, so we skip ahead to the middle of chapter 10 today.

Today’s scripture: Isaiah 10:5-19 (NRSV) (The Message) (KJV) What might God be saying to me?

My thoughts (James Hendrix):

I stepped onto the diving board and stood at the edge for several minutes, looking down into the deep pool. “Don’t be afraid,” my swimming coach yelled as he waited for me to dive. “Remember, I’m right here to help you,” he said.

When I heard my coach’s words, I decided to dive in. I felt confident that he would rescue me if I encountered problems.

As Jesus hung on the cross, surely He felt fear and betrayal. But he also knew that he could trust God completely. He could feel confident that God would deliver Him, even in death.

As we journey through life, we will encounter troubles, dangers, and disappointments. As did the people from today’s Scripture, we may even become entangled in sin and experience God’s anger and chastisement. At times, we may even feel that God has abandoned us. But, just as in His darkest hour Jesus trusted God, we also can remain confident in God’s promise to take care of us during this life and the life to come.

Thought for the day: May we learn to trust and obey the Lord always.
