Daily Meditation | Henri Nouwen Society

Have you ever tried to “pin” down God, or put God in a box? No? Really?

Whenever we think we have God all figured out, what happens? Something happens in life that throws us for a loop, and what we thought we knew we really don’t. This is why it is so important for us to be grounded in God.

Ephesians 3:17-19 tells us – “that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. … that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

Even the scripture tells us that the love of God surpasses knowledge. So how are we looking to ground ourselves in God this year? What are you including in your Rule of Life for 2019 for that grounding to continue to take hold? It’s not like we will ever have the full and complete knowledge of God or who God is. But we can spend time with God, being intentional in our Quiet time with God, immersing ourselves in God’s love, word, and presence.

Let’s see what Henri Nouwen Society has to say in today’s devotional.
