Acknowledgment

Today’s scripture: Matthew 10:26-33 (ESV-text and audio) (KJV) (The Message) What might God be saying to me?

My thoughts (Tammy Mills):

There are many awesome things about parenting, but I would rank “picking up my children at school” in the top five. It ranks there because of the reaction I always get.

Everyday at 4:00 pm, I head down the hallway to pick up our 2 year old. When I open the door he drops whatever he is working on, shouts, “Mama!” and comes running. This almost-movie-like scene ends with him hugging my knees so hard I nearly fall down.

When I pick up my older girls the scene is still remarkably the same. (I know it is soon to end, as they are 9 and 10, and mom coming to school isn’t going to be cool anymore.) For now though, I treasure the images I have of them dropping everything and running into my arms.

Acknowledgment is so wonderful! That moment of magical knowing, that comes when their eyes and mine meet is a moment of acknowledgment. I know in that split second that there is a love between us that nothing can ever sever. Not even school or childcare!

This scripture reminded me of the power of acknowledgment — the importance of really seeing someone and acknowledging the place they have in your life. An acknowledgment has the power to give life to the soul!

Thought for the day: How do I acknowledge my higher power? How do I acknowledge others around me?
